Currently Dr. Esser is the Chief Delivery Officer of Softeq responsible for all resource management, project management and solutions engineering operationally and strategically. He also is the CEO of Albert Esser Consulting, Inc. since 2010, offering a wide variety of services in the technology sector with clients national and international. Dr. Esser started his Consulting career with Albert Esser LLC, later acquired by Econdius, LLC. During his consulting career Dr. Esser focuses on technology startups, he was the Head of Electrical Systems at Joby Aero, from 2016 to 2017, a leading eVTOL developer, responsible for all electrical Systems on the airplane. Prior he was COO at 21E6, from 2013 - 2015, a leading crypto compute company, responsible for procurement and operations of all products, equipment and services, and for all data center and mechanical systems designs. Dr. Esser was with fortu AG ,an, advanced Li-Ion battery company, and held the positions CEO, COO and prior VP Engineering, respectively between 2011 to 2012. Other engagements included being a technology management consultant to Comet AG between 2017 to 2019, a leading technology company in the field of semiconductor technology equipment makers; and between 2021 and 2022 Director - Engineering at the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
Prior Dr. Esser was Vice President Power and Infrastructure Solutions, Dell Inc. until 2009 where he was responsible for Dell’s Infrastructure Product line and Dell’s global Power and Cooling Initiative, enhancing Dell’s enterprise class IT solutions, providing insight gained from customers to the Server, Storage, Data Center Solutions and Services product leaders to maximize the value of the Dell solutions.
Prior to Eaton, Dr. Esser was the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Emerson Network Power, Emerson Electric. He served as Technology Business Leader, Network Power Group, on the Emerson Technology Council. As CTO, he was overseeing the global R&D and product development of Emerson Network Power, which has R&D locations in 6 continents. The product lines included UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), Precision Air-conditioning, Telecom-DC Systems, Monitoring Systems and others. Concurrently Dr. Esser was also the VP Global Design DC-Systems and had direct global responsibility for the global R&D and Engineering of the Telecom DC-Systems Business.
During his Emerson Network Power tenure Dr. Esser was selected as a Founding Member and currently Member Emeritus of the GridWise Architecture Council (GWAC), sponsored by the DOE, a team of industry leaders who are shaping the guiding principles, or architecture, of a highly intelligent and interactive electric system, one ripe with decision-making information exchange and market-based opportunities.
Previously Dr. Esser held the position Senior Vice President Corporate Research at Hilti, Liechtenstein. The fields of Research he was responsible for included Work Science, Advanced Material Science and Analyses, Advanced Electronics and Systems, New Business Idea finding including business case studies, Engineering Services and others. He had global responsibility for joint research with Universities, Government and strategic partners.
Dr. Esser’s career with Emerson started as the Corporate Director Technology. In this assignment he was administering Emerson’s Strategic Investment Program aimed at highly visible technology based growth opportunities.
In Dr. Esser’s early career he held several positions with increasing responsibilities in GE. He started as Project Manager in GE’s Corporate R&D Center, Power Controls Program, and became Manager of this group. Dr. Esser had responsibility for GE’s Research in the field of Electric Motors, Drives, Power Electronics, and Advanced Controls for these fields. Projects included Hybrid Bus (for NYC), Locomotive Traction Drive, High Speed Starter/Generator, high power inverters and others. Dr. Esser then was appointed as Manager Imaging Subsystems, and later Global Manager at GE Medical Systems, MRI. He was one of GE’s first Certified Master Blackbelt and was part of the initial 6 Sigma effort in GE Medical Systems.
Dr. Esser started his career with Daimler-Benz as a Staff Scientist and member of the Corporate Technology Exchange Program. He was responsible for innovative power conversion for rail applications.
Dr. Esser received his Diplom-Ing. (MS) and Dr.-Ing (PhD) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Aachen, Germany in 1988 and 1992 respectively. He published a book on wireless transmission of electric power and signals for robots, over 10 papers, received an Outstanding Prize Paper Award jointly from the IEEE/Industrial Application Society and the IEE Japan (1993), received a post Doc scholarship from the German Research Foundation (DfG), holds 12 US patents and received numerous company awards including GE’s Dushman award, GE’s highest ranking team award.
